Coverage & Fit
Smaller dimensions mean less physical footprint — not a complete protection score.
The biggest physical trade-off is how much of the lower leg the guard occupies. Dimensions can show direction, but real coverage should be measured from the actual silhouette.

Why width × height is not enough
A shin guard can be tapered, curved, rounded at the edges, asymmetrical or narrower in some areas. A simple rectangle calculation would overstate the actual front-face silhouette and could be mistaken for a protection metric.
Place each guard face-up in the same orientation.
Photograph or scan it against a calibrated scale or grid.
Trace the real outer silhouette.
Calculate projected front-face area in cm².
Repeat the method for Carbon Fiber and PP Plastic.
Publish the sample ID, method and result.
State that projected area is not an injury-prevention score.
